PWP MEMBERS CODE OF CONDUCT
INTRODUCTION
- This Code of Conduct herein after referred to as "CoC" has been developed to define the principles governing the social conduct of its members, non-members and PWP functions.
- Parents Without Partners (NSW) Inc. herein after referred to as "PWP(NSW)" is a not-for-profit association established for the support of single parents and their children.
- The association's aims are to promote a friendly sociable atmosphere for mutual support where members can feel comfortable in a safe environment free from the fear of harassment or intimidation.
- Every member of PWP(NSW) shall abide by this CoC.
- The CoC has been adopted as a minimum standard of conduct, failure to specify any particular responsibility or practice in this CoC should not be construed as denial of existence of other responsibilities and practice.
MEMBERS
- Respect the rights and dignity of all individuals, irrespective of gender, age, race, religion, political affiliation, family circumstance, or socioeconomic status.
- Show courtesy to and respect all fellow members.
- At family functions act to protect the safety and well being of all children present, alert their parents of any potential hazards or dangers, and ensure the children have an enjoyable experience free of intimidation, harassment or bullying.
- Undertake their social interactions in a socially responsible manner.
- Not engage in dishonesty, fraud, deceit, misrepresentation,
- Not engage in harassment, assault, stalking, abusive, aggressive, or other forms of illegal conduct that adversely reflect on the Association or the individual’s fitness for membership in the Association.
- Preserve and protect the privacy of information provided by fellow members regarding their particular personal circumstances.
- Respect the individual right to personal space and not be over intrusive or harassing in social contact, unless implicitly invited.
- Not assume the right to make representations of the Association outside the scope of their assigned or elected responsibilities and knowledge.
- State truthfully and accurately their personal situation in relation to marital and family status.
PWP FUNCTIONS
- Respect the home and property of host members and adhere to any instructions or requests they should make in regards to their home, property or neighbour relations (including parking or noise requirements of the host.)
- Not arrive at PWP functions in an intoxicated state and refrain from excessive consumption while at functions.
- Failure to do so will lead to expulsion from the function.
- In the event of malicious or accidental damage caused to premises or personal property, including, but not limited to, damage caused to premises, items of clothing, household goods and property, motor vehicles, loss or theft of property incurred as a result of actions by an individual or individuals.
- The person(s) involved, whether guest or member shall be held liable to accept full responsibility, financial or otherwise, not PWP(NSW). Parents will be responsible for their children in respect to this policy.
PWP(NSW) OFFICE BEARERS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS
- Strive at all times to promote the objectives of PWP(NSW).
- Discharge honourably the responsibilities of any state or branch association position and preserve the confidentiality of any privileged information obtained whilst acting in an official capacity.
- Contribute to the planning, development and activities of the Association, which enable individuals within the Association to achieve optimum benefit.
- Ensure, within the scope of their responsibility, that all member identifiable information will be kept confidential.
- Ensure the release of information is in accordance with current laws and regulations and our privacy policies.
- Preserve the confidential nature of personal information unless compelled otherwise by legal means.
- Strive to ensure that a judgement made in conflict between the member's right to confidentiality and the publics' right to know is ethically and legally correct.

This document sets out our policies on handling personal information (including health information).
For over 40 years, Parents Without Partners (NSW) Inc has been providing a caring Organisation to its Members, keeping all membership details in a confidential manner.

We have committed to uphold the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988.
We have a dedicated Administrative Officer, and backed up by our Membership Directors who ensure that our privacy policies are adhered to across the Parents Without Partners Organisation and its related entities.

Parents Without Partners (NSW) Inc is an incorporated not-for-profit association with a 40+ year history in NSW. We are a registered as a charity because of our role in supporting single parents and especially our role in supporting children of single parent families.

Information provided by you will only be available to your Branch Membership Director and State Head Office.
We will not trade or rent your information to to any third parties.
As a general rule, Parents Without Partners (NSW) Inc will not provide personal information to any third parties except:
- to third parties engaged to provide services in connection with the purposes mentioned above (such as aditors for the accounts, mailing houses for the magazine or IT consultants for creating an online profile).
- if it is otherwise permitted or required by the Privacy Act or any other law.

Staff Training
Parents Without Partners (NSW) Inc will undertake staff and Membership Director training so that all staff are aware of responsibilities regarding the Privacy Act.
