Parents Without Partners is where you meet people and make friends

Parents Without Partners NSW Inc. is an incorporated not-for-profit association and also registered as a charity because of our role in supporting single parents and especially our role in supporting children of single parent families.

We are part of a national and international network of Parent Without Partner chapters, and once you are a member of one branch then you can attend the functions of any branch world-wide just by presenting your PWP Membership Card.

History of Parents Without Partners

The concept of PWP as a self-help group for lone parents and their children originated in America, from a discussion on a Sunday outing to the beach for two divorced parents and their children. The Organisation was formed in 1957, and in 1964 PWP International was established, with Branches throughout the United States and Canada. In Australia, PWP was formed in Melbourne and in Sydney, in 1967. Parents Without Partners (NSW) was registered as a charity in 1968 and incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act in 1988.

MEET PEOPLE – MAKE FRIENDS

There is no reason to stay at home alone. Come to our friendly functions and meet people in a similar situation, have a chat, get to know people and make new friends. Don't worry about coming on your own - we all do.

Just feel free to join in at a function and introduce yourself. We use name labels at most of our functions to make it easier to remember the names of the many people you have met for the first time.

Our members range from single parents who have divorced, separated or widowed, as well as those who have never married and also singles who have never had children.
