PWP HOUSE PARTIES & BARBEQUES

House Parties and barbeques are great functions for meeting people. They have the relaxed atmosphere hosted at a members home. When everyone signs-in and shows their membership card they are given a name label with their first name so it is easy when meeting a lot of people for the first time.

There are regular parties on every week in the Sydney PWP program. Our members enjoy hosting a party at their home and we are always looking for new hosts. So when you join PWP please indicate what you are interested in hosting. Some members can not host at their home - so they may host a dinner out or some day time activity. Helping on hospitality rostered duty at PWP functions helps you meet other members.

Always remember we are guests in a fellow members home and treat the venue and host with respect. Help keep the function and venue clean and tidy, rubbish and cigarette butts in designated bins and help in cleaning up is always appreciated at the end of the night . A happy host will host again - enabling us to offer so many functions.

A party every week - wow - what a great social life with PWP - your married friends will start to become envious. It can become fun being single again - once you are over the initial major adjustment. We have all been through a similar experience - and the PWP parties are our outlet. So do join and start coming to the parties and networking with fellow members.

The parties are also our major fund raising activity - the modest entry fee goes towards running the PWP Branch and helps us help the children of single parent families. It's where we get the money from to enable us to subsidised the children's activities. So support your local branch by attending - buy some raffle tickets - not just for the chance of a prize but to support the fund raising. Just one raffle ticket from everyone really helps us maintain the great program we offer members.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ATTENDING PWP SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

It is traditional for PWP members attending house parties to bring drinks and supper. This requirement is noted by the words 'USUAL' being listed with the parties. The interpretation of USUAL can mean any of the following selections:

1. USUAL - Men to bring DRINKS (enough for 2): 2 bottles of reasonable wine or 1 wine cask or 1 bottle of wine + 1 bottle of 2 litre juice or softdrink. Beer drinkers BYO beer + 1 bottle of wine. Gents please note that the ladies mostly like white wine. No red wine in the house please.

2. USUAL - Ladies to bring SUPPER (enough for 2): 1 plate of finger food - cut to manageable pieces. Sausage rolls and party pies must be pre-heated (i.e. do not bring frozen) or 1 fruit plate or fruit & cheese selection. (No cakes please).

3. A SELECTION OF BOTH means 1 bottle of wine + supper plate.

NOTE: When USUAL is suggested, men usually bring drinks and ladies usually bring supper. USUAL should be of a standard that you would be proud to serve to your friends at home. If you don't bring any or sufficient USUAL then you pay the entry fee that applies plus an additional $10.

REMEMBER all functions are for members only and your membership card must be produced when signing in at the door - unless the function has been stated as OPEN or 'Introduce a Friend' night then friends and associates may attend as temporary members for the function and are bound to comply with the function hosts &/or organisers requirements and the policies of Parents Without Partners.
